Final solution development!

My final solution commenced with the construction of the following components; shibori, smock, embroidery and knit. Above was one of the Shibori components that was expressed through a silk material. One material that I did not feel would hold a strong enough position to achieve the textural style. Yet, it was able to remain stable but the creases interrupted the length of the fabric. It was important to not alter the length of the remaining fabric as I aimed to have this drape towards the ground once hung. Therefore, it was ironed and completely transformed its appearance. It added fluidity to it which is something I’d already wanted to express.

Once all components were complete and finalised, they were individually pinned on. At this point, composition was key as I didn’t want them to overlap excessively to interfere with different view points of the textures. The smock was decided to be placed the other way around as the continuous thread that held the fabric was more visually appealing. I love how the two Shibori components of different fabrics sort of merge and overlap to produce volume, and a colour transition from the white to light blue.

This other view point shows the attachment of the smock with the excess fabrics trailing away from the structural sphere. This applied further fluidity in constrast to the strong structures. Alongside this, the white silk Shibori was also arranged for the remaining silk to drop and fall downwards.
